Behind the Image

This is an image created during a solo trip to the Gondwana rainforests of northern NSW this past August, an area that I had been very interested in exploring for over a year. The national parks there contain some of the state’s most beautiful rainforest, ranging from moss-draped Antarctic Beech to subtropical rainforest. It was an amazing experience and a much-needed refresher for my creativity.

This particular frame was captured on my first morning in the area, a small and sensitive region of old trees covered in hanging moss that wouldn’t be out of place in the Tasmanian wilderness. A clear sunny morning illuminated the branches in the most breathtaking way, highlighting their form and the hanging leaves and moss beautifully. These certain branches caught my eye due to their parallel form and dark rock wall background, which separated them nicely in the chaotic branches.

Print suggestion:

The deep contrast and detail of this image would best be showcased with either an acrylic face mount print, which would beautifully enhance it’s luminosity, or a Hahnemühle fine art Baryta paper, which is a lustre finish that shows off texture nicely.
